Agattu and Greiffjord's Negotiations

After a nice warm evening in Agattu's finest hotel, Greiffjord's Diplomatic Mission, led by Amber van Dyke now ready in the hall of Agattu to discuss about the matter.

Who shall be met with Ms. Van Dyke?

The deputy minister of regional trade will meet with Miss Amber Van Dyke to discuss trade and the possibility of a defense pact between these two arctic nations.

Amber van Dyke:

His Honorable Deputy Minister of Regional Trade. There are few things Greiffjord's need to discuss. I have the list here, a little bit long I'm afraid, but we can discuss it in any way we can.

1. Area in Baffin Bay, Narca Strait and Denmark Strait shall be area of joint security. Meaning both of our sea forces shall patrol the area together. Since those areas are important for Greiffjord's fisheries, I also would like to propose those areas to become mutual fishery zones. Meaning, both of our fishermen may fish in those areas, and we both shall responsible of preserving marine habitats there, so that our fisheries industry won't suffer in a long terms.

2. Since Greiffjord's trading ship will mostly pass your territory, I would propose a bilateral-owned sea lane in the water between Nova Scotia and Iceland.

3. Those areas, mentioned in no 1 and 2 shall be enforced by our join security forces. Greiffjord, of course will responsible so that none of Greiffjording ships, any ships, in those areas are carrying contrabands or conducting any illegal activities. As such, any ship performing illegal act can and will be catch by our forces and will be punished by any of our laws.

4. Greiffjord will over visa-free for any Agattan wish to visit Greiffjord, and I do hope that you grant the vice versa since Greffjording are keen to visit Agattu for their holiday.

5. Related to number 4, we also wish that Agattu will allow Greiffjording banks to open branches there. Agattan will also allowed to have savings in any Greiffjord banks, and enjoy the same facilities enjoyed by Greiffjording.

6. Since staple diet in Greiffjord consists of mainly fishes, wheats, millets and ryes, we're excited to see what are Agattan local produce shall offer. We need maize and meats, especially beefs and lambs since those commodities are rare and expensive here. We would also like to buy varieties of Agattan local vegetables and fruits. Of course, any of those imports products will be duty and tax free. Meanwhile we also open the possibilities of exporting mining products for Agattu.

7. Bilateral Defense-Pact between two nations. Greiffjord has large Air Force, and will be glad to participate in the defense of any Agattan territory, especially Iceland. The possibility of joint forces of our nations is also welcomed. I would also like to propose building missile defense shield in the border of our countries to prevent any ICBM attack from other countries.

Deputy Minister Travis has presented your proposal to the Foreign Secretary and the Regional Trade Commission (RTC) for North America. The government of Agattu has created formulated its response below. We hope you support these terms and we can move forward to the signing of this treaty and begin a new era of cooperation.

- The Holy Empire of Agattu agree's that these zones must be shared and respected by all parties. The Holy Empire of Agattu suggest the creation of a Joint Task Force between our nations and the establishment of two JTF bases on in Baffin Island and the other on Greiffjord's main island of Greenland. These bases would be manned by both militaries and would house supplies and provide maintenance to ships serving in the JTF. The bases would only be used to support the JTF except in times of war.
I also agree that we should make these zones mutual fishing zones and we create a international council that creates and oversees fishing laws and regulations in regards to this zone. The council will respect each nations laws and only make regulations that fall respect those laws. The nation of Agattu also would like to sign a separate "safe harbor" treaty that allows fishing boats ships to seek safe harbor in Agattu and/or Greiffjords harbors in the event of life threatening weather.

2. Since Greiffjord's trading ship will mostly pass your territory, I would propose a bilateral-owned sea lane in the water between Nova Scotia and Iceland.

- Agattu believes that this agreement is important to the development of the Arctic and the increase in trade in our regions. I propose that this region also fall under the security of the JTF, but also under the protection of each nations individual Coast Guards. Agate also proposes the creation of a shipping monitoring center to be manned by both nations and have representatives from both nations coast guards and armed forces. Agattu proposes this center be established in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

3. Those areas, mentioned in no 1 and 2 shall be enforced by our join security forces. Greiffjord, of course will responsible so that none of Greiffjording ships, any ships, in those areas are carrying contrabands or conducting any illegal activities. As such, any ship performing illegal act can and will be catch by our forces and will be punished by any of our laws.

- in regards to the JTF, see the above two comments. Agattu proposes an extradition treaty to allow the exchange of people that have broken laws in one of the signatories nations. Agate also proposes that each nation create a Maritime Court to hear cases of maritime crime that occurs in the joint sea zones.

- Agattu will allow for visa-free travel but still requires members of Greiffjord to still have passports to enter the nation. Agattu also wishes to clarify that this agreement does not cover those that wish to obtain work in the Holy Empire of Agattu.

5. Related to number 4, we also wish that Agattu will allow Greiffjording banks to open branches there. Agattan will also allowed to have savings in any Greiffjord banks, and enjoy the same facilities enjoyed by

- Agattu thinks that this agreement would allow for greater financial cooperation between are nations. We only wish to clarify that banks setting up in Agattu respect the financial laws of Agattu.

- Agattu agree's that duty and tax free on these products is important and looks forward to providing quality Alaskan Salmon and Halibut to the people of Greiffjord. We will also provide quality Angus Beef from out many cattle farms and will provide quality lumber products from our lush Alaskan and Atlantic forests. We will also provide many other products that the Agattan people enjoy and look forward to establishing resource trade in a separate agreement.

- As with the above mentions JTF, Agattu finds the idea of a bilateral defense-pact important for peace in our region. Agate and Greiffjord control a majority of the arctic territory and as such, should be nations of peace and stability. Agattu proposes biannual defense exercises between the nations armed forces. We propose one exercise in each nation at minimum each year. Agattu also proposes a joint aerospace control center to help monitor the airspace of Agattu and Greiffjord. We recommend the establishment of the main operations center be placed in Yellowknife, Territory with with radar stations in Alaska, Greenland, Nova Scotia, Iceland and Greiffjord Russia. This system would allow for easy tradeoff and transfer of suspect aircraft that enters our aerospace.
In regards to missile defense, the Holy Empire of Agattu has established a missile defense system and has also established a nuclear weapons system to respond in case of a nuclear attack. Agattu would be willing to trade this technology to Greiffjord to allow the establishment of a joint missile defense system. In return for this technology, Agattu request the transfer some military technology. Agattu would allow Greiffjord to select the technology it would like to trade.

The Holy Empire of Agattu hopes that The Protectorate of Greiffjord is satisfied with this agreement and that Agattu and Greiffjord can sign a treaty shortly.

4. Yes, passport is still required to enter Greiffjord as well as Agattu. In addition, Greiffjord will allow Agattu to open tourism and cultural center in major cities of Greiffjord, to further promote the tourism. We also hope a cultural exchange exhibition could be held soon among two nations.

7. Greiffjord is willing to share the knowledge gained during Trans-Polar Expedition, especially about navigation and sea lane to reach Northern Russia faster than circumnavigating following longitude. This include strategic satellite mapping that allow such travel exist. Beside that, Greiffjord Secret Service will also share should there be any intelligence that raise red flag against Agattu. Others military share of technology agreement shall be discussed in a more discreet meeting.

All in all, Greiffjord is satisfied with this agreement and will have our Kanzler, Karl Neuerdorf to come to Agattu for signing by next week.
