The People's Arbitration Forces of Mephistophelia Sends Peacekeepers to Africa and Scandinavia

Today, in a strange reversal of events from the last couple of days, following an aborted invasion of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan in the name of the Khan and the revival of the Great Khanate until international pressure caved in. The once ambitious, expansionist claims of our Supreme Leader, Kim Daeseong had turned to that of a more conciliatory approach on the world stage.

"We've been working tirelessly in repairing the reputation of Mephistophelia after our scandalous power-grab. Then two conflicts arose since then, the Skarten-Calinth War and the Liberation of Africa from the colonialist expansion of 5years. The episode between Skarten and Calinth had ended, but tensions were still there. Calinth is known to have an imperialist mindset with the reclamation of Scandinavia in addition to its outlandish claims for the Middle East and Eastern Europe to boot. Whilst 5years originating from Western Europe had wanted to expand overseas on the African continent claiming everything in the sub-saharan sector that was not under either Zexiunum or UKD rule. Our main resource in Mephistophelia is our manpower and our military strength is still known throughout the world over. I thought we should capitalize on that success, instead of war, why not convert them to peacekeepers. We have generally stayed under the radar as a neutral, observer nation. Which is why we've established a new branch of the military- The People's Arbitration Forces of Mephistophelia (PAFOM)." stated Yi Aisin Gioro, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The People's Arbitration Forces of Mephistophelia is a stabilizing security force and sub-branch of all the main branches of the military- the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Newly created for the defense of borders, the creation of new safe-zones, the maintenance of peace in conflict-prone areas (like ethno-religious divided cities), the supervising of rebuilding and restoration of war-devastated areas; the evacuation of diplomatic, political, and military personnel as well as any injured civilians; the distribution of relief aid and humanitarian goods; and being the outside party that assures opposing parties will respect each others' territorial integrity.

In the case of Skarten, Mephistophelia had just established an embassy and started conducting trade negotiations. But also the Supreme Leader's personal affinity with Finland complicated things greatly (he's had many friends from Finland, one of which was the Prime Minister, Phillip Stubberg). Mephistophelia also sees itself as partially to blame in encouraging the Calinthian leader in not expanding its empires overseas but closer to home in unclaimed territories near his border.

"Though the conflict may be over (for now), Mephistophelia will pledge 25,000 peacekeeping forces to the Beierpakt (the European collective security body), we are purely acting as a neutral, observer nation. This would be too small for heinous offensive operations. And the 25,000 will be taking direct orders from the Beierpakt, if Marxist Bavaria accepts. We will also provide the upkeep for our soldiers- $15 million for the next six months of rotational sentry positions and small defensive garrisons along the Oder-Neisse Line (between Skartenian Germany and Calinthian Poland), the contentious Kola Peninsula, and the border of Skartenian Sweden and Calinthian Finland (the cities of Haparanda, Overtornea, Rello, Kolari, Markkina, Treriksroset, Angeli, Port, and Nuorgam). We have mutual interest that both parties retain normalized relations in the coming months," remarked Ambassador Kang Enlai at the newly opened Mephistophelian Embassy at Copenhagem, Osbrotten in Skarten.

"We have no official relations with the NAAN however, but as personal diplomatic partners established between Prumerica and Mephistophelia, earlier on. Mephistophelia will be able to contribute peacekeeping forces (up to 20,000 enlisted men of The People's Arbitration Forces of Mephistophelia, 100 BTR 80-M Armoured Personnel Carriers from the Mongol Division, 10 MiG-29S KPAF Fighter Jets, the CNS Liaoning (CV-16) Aircraft Carrier, and 20 ROKAF CH-47 Chinook Helicopters (for evacuation and transport)). In addition, we will send any logistical support and military attaches/advisers, food supplies and our renown General Park Daewang, all of these provisions were to be used in our aborted invasion of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, and will now be redirected for the use of your liberation of Africa from 5years. We will lend as much support in the campaign in the hopes that we may be able to work in the region and the granting of oil, natural gas, and mining rights in the Congo or Prumerican Morocco and the Western Sahara, for a two-year lease period after the war. Or the interest-free loan of our peacekeeping forces, equipment, and supplies to the campaign which will be paid in full in the following two years after the war," mentions PAFOM Chief of Staff Nguyen Cam Lu Doi-an from the Vietnamese Auxiliary Battalion.

"We can only hope that these conflicts resolve themselves with the added benefit that we will be there whenever the need arises around the world for responsible superpowers promoting state sovereignty and peacekeepers that no other multinational organization could provide such insurmountable resources. And we hope to be taken more seriously and with more respect in the international community, not as an aggressor state but a progressor state instead," concluded the Supreme Leader, Kim Daeseong at a review of the first wave of PAFOM fighters bound for Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania in the morrow.
